German RecipesThe German culture is full of mouth watering cuisine however a lot of people feel that many German recipes are too “heavy” although this criticism could very well come from individuals preferring lighter fare. The change in feelings over the rich ingredients contained in most German recipes comes with a more modern modified traditional German diet. Classic recipes for German breakfasts have been set aside for more Americanized bowl of cereal or something else quite simple. However breakfast in Germany is very much appreciated by most as a great start to the day is very much appreciated. Although large portions of meat are still consumed by many, German recipes are beginning toned down to accommodate a healthier lifestyle. The following is a german recipe that is still quite popular today and enjoyed by many worldwide. Spatzle Spatzle is the German version of egg noodles. To prepare this German recipe you will need the following ingredients. 3 cups flour To start of you will want to blend together the flour, eggs and salt in addition to ½ cup of water. Mix these ingredients together until they are very smooth and do not stick to your mixing utensil. While you are completing this task you will want to bring a pot of water (preferably salted) to boil on your stove. Once your Spatzle dough has been mixed together place it onto a cutting board and roll it out as thin as possible. Then cut the dough into small noodles and place them into the boiling pot of water. You will be able to tell when these noodles are done when they float to the top of the water. A good tip to keep in mind is that Spatzle noodles cook very quickly. More German Information: |
