In 1852 American Sam German created the dark baking chocolate known as Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate. Now the most notable reason for the assumption of German chocolate cake being a creation of German design is that the s in German's began to be left out of a majority of German chocolate cake recipes. When a homemaker in Texas sent a recipe for German chocolate cake to a newspaper in 1957 the General Foods company (owners of Baker's German's Sweet Chocolate) experience an incredible increase in the sales of the cake ingredient. This prompted the company to release recipes to newspapers across the United States. The following is a simple recipe for this world famous desert. Super Easy German Chocolate Cake To make this delectable desert you will need to round up the following ingredients. 1 box devil's food cake mix (Any brand will work fine) First off preheat your over to 350 degrees. Mix together the box of cake mix, margarine and one of the eggs until a fairly smooth batter is formed. Place the batter into a greased cake pan and liberally sprinkle the chopped nuts and chocolate chips on top of the prepared batter. After you have finished this step in a separate mixing bowl blend together the remaining two eggs, sugar and cream cheese. Once this is completed place the mixture into the middle of the prepared batter. Place the cake into the oven and bake for around thirty minutes.
